Reels

Vertical reels are how listings get seen now.

Agents are marketing on the feed whether or not their photographer supplies the footage for it. A reel package turns one shoot into the format their audience actually watches.

The opportunity

The reel is usually the highest-margin item on the invoice.

It comes from footage you captured on a shoot you were already doing, and it is the thing agents ask for most.

The reason most photographers do not sell it is time. Cutting a good vertical edit — pacing, captions, music sync — is a couple of hours of skilled work per listing, and that work does not scale alongside a shooting schedule.

Handing the edit to an editor while keeping the order, the footage and the delivery inside your own workflow is what makes reels a product rather than a favour you do for your best agent.

What is included

Premium social reel — $225 per listing.

Built vertical

Framed and finished for 9:16, not a landscape edit with the sides chopped off and the subject half out of frame.

A first second that holds

The strongest reveal goes first. Reels are lost in the opening moment more than anywhere else.

Speed ramps & transitions

Movement carried through doorways and between rooms so the property reads as one continuous space.

Full caption treatment

Beds, baths, square footage and the hook, typeset legibly for people watching with the sound off.

Licensed music

Tracks cleared for social so the post does not get muted after it starts working.

One revision round

Flag the pacing, the captions or a shot you want swapped, and it comes back adjusted.

Shoot for it

Footage that cuts into a good reel.

  • Lead with the exterior approach — the reveal is the hook
  • Walk through doorways rather than cutting at them; the movement carries the edit
  • Shoot vertically, or wide enough that a vertical crop keeps the subject centred
  • Get two or three motion moments: a slider, a gimbal push, a stair climb
  • Keep clips longer than you think you need so transitions have material
  • Capture the feature the agent will lead with — the pool, the view, the kitchen island

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is included in a premium social reel?

A 9:16 vertical edit from your own clips with dynamic transitions, speed ramps, a full caption treatment and licensed music, plus one round of revisions — $225 per listing.

How is that different from the cinematic reel?

The cinematic reel at $100 is a calmer, paced walkthrough with the property address as the only caption. The social reel is built for the feed: faster, captioned throughout, and cut to hold attention in the first second.

What should I shoot for a reel?

Vertical or wide enough to crop to vertical, with deliberate movement — walk-throughs of doorways, reveals, and a strong exterior approach. Static tripod shots do not carry a reel.

Who posts it, me or the agent?

Either. The finished reel is delivered in the client gallery, so the agent can download and post it themselves, or you can publish it on the property's marketing kit.

Can I get both a reel and a walkthrough for one listing?

Yes. They are separate packages ordered against the same project, and both land in the same delivery.

Sell the reel on your next shoot.

Upload the clips, order the package, deliver it with the stills.
